The grand heroes of photography do create some amazing images. But to do that you need to learn more than just the settings on the camera. Photography is organic, human. The great photographers all share the same trait of character, the ability to show the world what they feel. Here's a few steps to take to become more involved in your own photography.
The very moment you start to write your goals down, wonderful things will happen. When you know WHAT you are going to do, finding out HOW to do it is much easier.
Always have a project on-going. Big or small doesn't matter as long as you are creating. As long as you are moving forward, one thing will lead to another and new doors will open.
If you are lucky enough to have become really good at something, it is you duty to use that for something good! Don't let the urge to earn as much cash as possible take over. Use your knowledge to help someone.
Get to know people
No matter how many iPhones or Google Glasses you have, everything will boil down to people and the interaction between us. Make new friends and take up old friendships again.
Get to know yourself
You'll never get fully taught. Even though it is a busy world and we have very little time to spare, never forget to stop for a while and think about what you are doing and are going to do.
Don't care to much for money
When it is time to kick the bucket, you'll have no use for truckloads of money. It is nice to have money, but don't let it control what you do.
Do what you love
Try to always do what you enjoy doing. Every minute. If you don't know what that is, find out! And when you've found out what you want to spend your days doing, find out how to be able to.
Never forget that.
