I went to the island of Capri just past Italy’s Amalfi coast right before the full force of summer struck. The island was still pretty calm, at least when you got out of the center of Capri Town. My job was to capture all the elements of the island, but still make it feel like ONE island.
Professional travel photographers need to collect enough images to fill several spreads in a magazine. The challenge with travel articles is that the pictures have to be diverse, yet still have a common denominator so that they feel like they were all taken in the same place. A good way to practice this is to put five or six photos side by side, to create a short story. This will help you see what kind of images you are missing.
