For a reason that I haven't fully understood yet, I tend to inspire people when discussing the different ways of life I've chosen. Whether it's about minimalism, eating paleo or one of the many projects popping up in my head (usually when I'm trying to fall asleep which is really annoying) I usually get a text the very next day or discover a status update on Facebook proving that some kind of seed was planted during our chat. The last year I´ve ended up in several conversations with close friends with amazing dreams. A dream about starting her own business in a field that she love. A dream about a trip to a place so beautiful that any half-decent Hollywood movie would turn green of envy. A dream about starting that amazing photo project.
And they are all so close to making it. So close to turning their lives in a completely different direction. But at the same time, so far far away. Because between the dream - the image inside you of what you would like to be - and the goal - an image inside you of what you are GOING to be - stands one gigantic barrier pushing back.
Imagine the world shaped as a sandglass with you as the small bottleneck where all the ideas, problems and decisions has to pass to get to the other side, to end up as a great project or a life-changing decision. You are the needle's eye where everything needs to pass.
Everything that comes your way is yours to cultivate. Yours to use if you like to. Your friends comments on how jeopardous it is to quit your day-job to start your own business could either make you discard the whole dream or you could decide to see this through, more aware of the risks.
The fact that you don't have the camera you think you need for your project could either make you wait forever to be able to afford the right equipment, or you could decide that the most important thing is not the equipment but to make it happen at all.
That feeling of not know if your dream is really what you want to do could either make you stay at home or in that job or you could just decide to just book that trip and you´ll know if it was the right decision afterwards.
You are the only one able to turn an elusive dream into a substantial goal. Decide to do it.
